Great grand daughter

My name is Peter Cotton (not named after a rabbit). I wrote my first story about Fred, When Fred the Snake got Squished and Mended a very long time ago to teach my children to be careful crossing the road. There are now seven more books, all in rhyming verse and beautifully illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire. My grandkids like them and I hope you do, too.

Welcome to the adventures of Fred the Snake. You’ll travel the world with Fred and his family, Jungle Jim, and a whole animal menagerie as they have fun, make new friends, and enjoy a variety of mishaps.

The Middlesex Hospital lives on ……in Connecticut

By Peter Cotton | February 23, 2024

Three years ago I wrote about my time on the staff of the Middlesex hospital in London, and explained it’s unusual name https://petercottontales.com/2020/10/the-middlesex-hospital-what-sort-of-a-name-is-that/ Unfortunately the illustrations of that piece seem to have disappeared The Middlesex closed in 2005 and it’s functions and staff joined the University College Hospital, now in a fancy new building on […]

It will not be a […]

2023 goes out with a bang, literally

By Peter Cotton | December 31, 2023

What bang? All will be explained, but before that….. We were comfy in our home on Dewees island expecting a wet and windy Sunday Dec 17, but it turned into a hurricane size event, with about 8 ins of rain. That and high tide raised the ground water level 39 ins, and 23 ins above […]

Riding (and driving) the endoscopy express over seven decades

By Peter Cotton | November 22, 2023

ASGE has a new online journal called iGIE. Desparate for copy they asked me to ramble down memory lane, which I was happy to do. Some of it might amuse.. So we went to Kerala….

By bublish | November 10, 2023

No doubt you want to hear all about our trip to Kochi (AKA Cochin) in southwest India. No sign of Columbus, but Vasco da Garma was buried there. Good flights via Doha, on Qatar airways which deserves its excellent reputation. Breakfast omelettes at 30,000 ft in an (almost) double bed!     We stayed initially […]

Reaching for the scars

By bublish | October 11, 2023

How many people go through 80 years without getting some physical scars? I did, at least after I gained two (on my forehead and knee) in a pre-school playground at the age of four. I am reflecting on this because, in my 85th year, I have achieved no fewer than six more! All resulted from […]
