"Fred the Snake playfully conveys good advice for young readers with easy to understand rhymes. The colorful illustrations also play a part in this charming book aimed at the two year toddler and his/her older friends. The third book in the series (“Fred the Snake Gets Squished and Mended” and “Fred the Snake Goes to School”) finds Fred’s good friend, Jungle Jim, coming to visit and bringing some of his jungle friends with him. Tunnel standup

The Tunnel at the End of the Light

Peter Cotton’s memoirs, published in 2010. Amusing stories about growing up a long time ago, his career in medicine with many adventures while traveling to lecture around the world, and reflections on life. The book title refers to his pioneering use of flexible endoscopes to examine the human tunnels, and to treat many of the afflictions.

An excellent and illuminating easily read account by a gastroenterologist with an international reputation about his efforts to put endoscopy on the map. Very interesting account of his upbringing, Personal background and the opposite attitudes in the UK and USA to what he was achieving. —Raymond Parsons

Peter Cotton is a master endoscopist and a pioneer in the field. His enthusiasm for endoscopic procedures particularly for ERCP in contagious. Due to his frequent travel to all parts of the world he
is responsible for the increase in the popular awareness and importance of the gastroenterologist-endoscopist in modern medicine. He wrote the first textbook of endoscopic procedures now in its 6th edition. During his tenure in the UK and US he was the mentor of scores of endoscopists improving the quality of endoscopy units around the world .
The present book is a witty professional autobiography allowing the reader to travel with him to the endoscopy units of remote countries. The reader also will appreciate the technical evolution
of the specialty from primitive fiberoptics in small rooms in the basement (for some reason always close to radiology services..)of the hospitals to the modern facilities in the Mayo or Cleveland Clinics. I recommend this book to all persons with an interest in gastroenterology and particularly to students,
residents or fellows willing to have an insight in in the life of a true master-endoscopist.
Daniel Sette Camara, MD, FACP, FACG, FASGE, AGAF

Peter Cotton has written a marvelous autobiography (The Tunnel at the End of the Light) of his journeys
through the long dark channels of the development of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). His accounts of introducing ERCP in England at St. Thomas Hospital in 1971 should be an inspiration to all of us who share his dreams of developing new endoscopic
procedures. Although there were dark times in the tunnel, his bright personality lit the path to success. —WILLIAM BRUGGE Mass General Hospital Boston, Massachusetts
